Ralph's Story
Life
As you can see by the colleges and universities I attended and where I have worked I have moved around a bit after leaving Cleveland H.S.. Here are the highlights
- B.S. in Ed. at Seattle Pacific College (at that time, now it is an University).
- Married right after graduating to Nellie Livingston. We met at SPC
- Taught sixth grade and all grades P.E. in McMinnville, OR
- Moved to Wilmore,KY (long story) and worked in junior high school teaching math and also coaching football. We had two girls (Karen and Sharma)while in KY.
- Moved to Bloomington, IN to pursue my Master's degree. I worked full time teaching in a Jr. High School teaching math while attending Indiana University.
- Completed my Master's degree in Ed. and decided to continue and complete my doctorate. I completed my Ed.D with a major in Curriculum and Instruction and minors in Instructional Systems Design and Organizational Behavior.
- Got a job in research at the Center for Vocational and Technical Education at The Ohio State University and was involved in several nationally based educational research projects. Our son (Ken) was born in Columbus.
- Went to Greenville College in Greenville, IL to be head of the Dept. of Education. I was a professor and administrator there.
- Went to Seattle Pacific Un...Expand for more
iversity as an Assc. Dean of Continuing Studies and later as Dean of Continuing Studies. We moved my parents from Portland to Seattle to be with us in their latter years. Both my parents lived long lives, Mom 86 and Dad 97. We retired in 2000.
- While we were at Seattle Pacific University our daughters were married and began giving us grandchildren. We currently have 7 grandchildren ranging in age from 19 to 2 years old. The grandchildren have become a lot of our life.
- After retiring we moved back to Wilmore, KY to help out with Nellie's parents. That's where we are now.
- Our son (Ken) is a teacher in Kent, WA and was married August, 2006 on a buffalo ranch overlooking Puget Sound neara Gig Harbor, WA. They have given us our 8th grandchild.
- We are involved with our church as Team Leaders of the Marriage and Family Committee; we try to keep somewhat fit by working out at the Asbury College gym and swimming pool; we travel a bit, particularily to see grandchildren; both Nellie and I are involved with the Gideon's ministry (the group that places and hands out bibles throughout the world). I'm working parttime teaching in the Graudate Ed. program at Asbury College. Retirement has been quite an adjustment. We're still adjusting. But we keep reasonably busy and are enjoying this new life.
