jose's Story
AKA Jose, real name Meliton Ramos Jr. Foreman of AM auto mechanics shop. After graduation joined the US Air Force. On June 27, 1977 I reported to Lackland AFB for basic training. In Aug 16 (Elvis Presley) died I departed Lackland and reported to chanute AFB, Illinois. In Oct. I completed technical school as an aerospace fire protection specialist (Firefighter). I seperated from active duty returned to san Antonio and joined the 433rd Alamo wing (AF Reserves) Fire protection branch. After trying out numerous jobs as a carpenter, construction, window washer, catpet cleaner I finally landed at coca cola btlg and remained there till Feb. 1981 when again I went active duty and joined the USAF with my first assighnment at Randolph AFB as a Firefighter. In 1983 I left Randolph and reported to Lakes Field Azores, Portugal. in 1985 I left Lajes and reported to Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Tx. ssion as a Reprographic Specialist. In 1990 I reported to Galena Airport, Alaska back to my former field as a firefighter. A year later in 1991 I reported to Ramstein Germany again back into the Reprographics career field. In November 1992 I took an early separation from the Air Force and returned back to san antonio and immidiately joined the AF Reserves with the 433 rd Alamo Wing. While with the reserves I traveled extensively to places which include Torejon AB, Spain, Misawa AB, Japan, Okinawa, Japan, Osan,Korea, and the United Arab Emirates. I also traveled to various bases throughout the continental U.S. ln june 1993 I begun my civil service employment for the Department of Defence at Bergstrom AFB,Tx as a firefighter. In 1996 Bergstrom AFB was shut down in the BRAC clossures and I thus transferred to Randolph AFB. In Sept. 2009 I transfered to Lackland AFB where I currently am still employed as a Fire Protection Hazmat Technician.
