Randall's Story
Life
In June of 2004 we moved to a condo on a private lake in northwest West Bend, WI. The fishing is much better here, and the property is great for walking (I never learned how to jog...), working on the flower beds, watching and feeding the various birds, and finishing my workshop.
We are enjoying our grandchildren and babysitting whenever possible. They love running the radio-controlled boats and playing with the huge frogs we catch. As for the fish, I have yet to find a recipe that makes bass anything more than edible...
Workplace
I graduated from NMU (and a full-time job with Lake Shore, Inc. in Marquette) in 1968. My degree is in Education, but I found I was already earning more than teaching jobs were paying at that time. With my work experiences, I took a Safety Consultant position with Employers Insurance of Wausau, in the Chicago area.
In 1972 I began a 30+ year position as a safety & health enforcement officer with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, in the Milwaukee office. Eventually I became a Supervisor in that office, but continued teaching and training othe...Expand for more
rs, especially in the area of electrical accident prevention. That work involved both management and labor organizations, OSHA's Regional Office and their National Training Institute, and the National Safety Council.
I retired to a house on the river north of Grafton, WI, where I spent considerable time feeding birds, squirrels (and raccoons), and catching inedible fish from the Milwaukee River.
In 2003, we bought a condo on a small lake near West Bend, WI - the development is called Lost Nations Estates, and is in a town called Barton. The bass are no better here, but life is good, and the yard work amounts to whatever I feel like doing.
Now if I could only get someone to solve the various age-related health issues. I believe my father used to say something to the effect of, "If I had known I was going to live this long, I would have taken better care of myself." So much for hindsight - or would that be foresight?
