Life I guess I started out with dreams that are larger than life and felt like I was ten foot tall and bulletproof like most of us probably do. Didn't take long to realize that error of that mistake. Even though my thoughts on life were different back then, they changed as life progressed. After life threw me a curve ball in the early 90's, laid off from work, my wife leaving me for a guy she worked with, wondering how I was going to pay the bills and how soon it would be before I would become homeless. I realized for the first time that I really wasn't ten foot tall and bullet proof and I didn't have control of my life at all. Sitting alone at home, divorced, laid off from work, wondering what tomorrow would bring I remembered what I had been taught in church that God held all the answers. Could that really be true? I didn't know but I decided to find out. I picked up a bible from my bookshelf that my aunt had given me for graduation and I started to read. I found myself like a dry sponge and the Word of God was like an ocean that began to fill me. As I read about how Jesus taught the disciples how to pray, I decided to pray because I had never prayed before other than at an alter at 12 years old and the pastor told me what to say back then. As I began to pray, I began to see a loving God, a God that heard me like a friend and began to answer my prayers. I continued to read that bible, I couldn't stop so I read it again, then again, for a total of six times before I stopped, and I have read it more since then. I finally found someone who was in control of my life and it wasn't me. My control brought chaos and worry and conflict, but God's control brought a peace that passes all understanding. I decided to go to bible college to learn more, I became involved in church working with youth and going on mission trips. I have even smuggled Bibles into foreign countries where they are illegal, even got caught once - that was scary to say the least but I survived. I continually look for opportunities to go back to the mission field to help lead people to the Lord. However, even with my adventures in foreign countries I will say that the biggest mission field is not just in foreign countries, it is right here at home. I have had a Sunday School class that was literally bursting at the seams from students that wanted to learn. Now don't take that as bragging, I have really studied the Bible and have a passion for teaching the things I had learned and you can tell that I have that passion. I couldn't be happier. The Lord blessed me in 2006 with a beautiful bride that shares the same compassion for the lost and helps in the ministry. Then in 2013 the Lord blessed us with our first biological son at 45 years old. We chose to homeschool our son which was a tough decision, it meant me taking a low paying job with good benefits and my bride quitting her good paying job. That decision cost us 75% of our income. You may be asking are you stupid, why would you choose to lose 75% of your income? Doesn't seem like a wise decision in worldly terms. in the bible Jesus tells us that that we are to count the cost of following Him. We counted the cost and were willing to trust Him. He has always taken care of us, even when we had no idea how, He always comes through.
