Randy's Story

Life What can I say, life takes crazy turns. Mine took a sharp right about ten years ago and I went from AZ to GA, single to married, and rollercoasting through life to coasting on the Coast. We now live in Wilmington, NC, on a golf course (community) between the ocean and the Cape Fear river. My wife has an 18 year old son who lives with us and I have a daughter (19) who lives in AZ. Our son is into the usual - football, X-Box, and anything having to do with military-type games - and my daughter attends UofA. College My first few years at ASU were definitely eye-openers. Fortunately, I learned enough in Doc Zinke's class that I was literally able to sleep through my 7am Chem 101 and get a B. Having worked 3rd shift for four years while attending classes that spanned 35 hours/week, I became quite proficient at absorbing lectures in my sleep. I later transferred to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, where I finished my undergrad and grad degrees and I did an MS in Computer Science at UofPwhile completing my MBA. tunate to have my employer pay for most of it, but student loans are a familiar friend, as well. I sometimes look back and wonder "what was I thinking"? Although they say that education is never wasted, I'm not convinced I'd do it again; at least not the same. Workplace I spent several years (14+) working in the automotive airbag industry and as a corporate manager for many of those years I spent many hours staring at the back of a airplane headrest. At one time, I flew on the longest scheduled commercial leg in history, from LAX to Singapore - over 18 hours. (For the record - it is now nearly 23 hours from JFK to Singapore. I haven't been on that one.) I moved over to heavy equipment manufacturing (cranes) for 5 years and I now travel weekly as a corporate director for Axion International. Anyway, after lots of places, lots of faces, and lots of stories stranger than fiction . . . I find I am now full of practically useless information; but I can keep a small audience entertained for hours . . . (if I'm buying the drinks).
