randy's Story

hi guys and gals! you might have known that after the Army, subsequent Vo-Tech training in Machine Shop that I went on to College in Boston, Engineering Graphics. There soon realized that computers would soon make me obsolete, and went into the workforce, quality control and mechanical inspection, along with close-tolerance machining. Fast $, in the form of asbestos removal enticed me into that direction, and good money was made, and thoughts of a like income out west (Colorado), prompted a move there in '87. Unfortunately, the western states would not sustain that level of income in that field, and I refused to 'suit up' for less. This led to another career change, and I 'bent nails' (framing large custom homes) for 5 years, during which time, my beautiful daughter Heidi Juliana was born. An accident forced me to give up the more physical labor outside the house, so I moved inside, doing the finish carpentry , cabinets, closets, etc. Love my work. God made some beautiful designs in the wood naturally, and the most beautiful grain when I tree has come under siege, by weather extreme or plagues of insects, or disease. It's all in how it weathered the storm. Anyway, Heidi's mom and I divorced when she was 4, and today Heidi is married to a great guy, and there are 2 grand-babies, Grayson & Eb...Expand for more
brie; 3 and 1, respectively. I'm flyin' solo right now, having taken care of my mom for 2 1/2 yrs, who had ovarian cancer, and passed just weeks before turning 83,Dec 23/'16, in O'Fallon, Illinois. Working just as hard as when I had my own business out west, doing all kinds of remodeling projects in and out of the house. Of course there's much more to tell, but that's for a later time , and a different venue. My Very Best Wishes to the Class of "75! Evenings and Weekends I try and keep free. As I have been working blue-collar for most of my adult life, and no requirement for using computers, I am not so proficient on them as I could have been, had I invested a little time back then... so if you send messages or whatever, and I don't respond promptly, have patience w/me. One thing I was telling Debbie Allen was that in Facebook, I get friend requests, etc from people whose names sound familiar, but whose face I don't recognize... I realize I have physically changed as well, but if I don't see a picture from back in the day, I don't make the connection. Debbie has kindly offered to help a little with that as re: those mutual acquaintances we might share. I would guess that at our age, we all have some little mental glitches of one kind or other ;) :) Peace, Love, and God Bless each of you-all.
