My family moved from Tucson, AZ in 1966 and I completed my senior year (66-67) at Hillcrest High School. But Rincon and Tucson have always been home. I attended a small college where I met my wife of 54 years. Barbara and I were married in 1971 and have eight children (four boys and four girls) and seven grandchildren. Church music was my first foray into the "real world" until a choir member introduced me to flying and my life was never the same! That was 1976 and I joined the U.S. Army and attended flight school. I flew as a MEDEVAC pilot at FT Bliss, Tx, instructor pilot at FT. Rucker, AL, and then as a CH-47 pilot and maintenance officer of the 213th Blackcats in Korea. While stationed at FT Eustis, VA, I discovered the Coast Guard needed aviators. Before long I found myself patrolling the islands of Hawaii in a Coast Guard HH-52 helicopter (someone had to do it!)
