Randy's Story
Life
To make a (30 year) long story short:
WORK: I left Stadium with hopes of joining the UW gymnastics team and becoming an architect. But being the young genius that I was, I dropped out in my first year and went to work at the St. Regis Saw Mill, then Fick Foundry, then spent twelve years running several of the old Rax Restaurants in the area. I had an office on the top floor of The Old City Hall Building, a company car, and thought I had it made. Then Rax sold their restaurants to Arby's and Wendy's, and I went to work for Wendy's. After four years there I quit, and have been self employed ever since(1995.) I became a Washington State specialty sub-contractor doing business as Johnson Laminate. Basically that just means I install laminate countertops, and do a little tile work for some carpet shops, and builders in the area. It's not architecture, and it sure ain't rocket science, but at least it gives me a paycheck, and a...Expand for more
good deal of freedom.
LIFE: In 1980 I married my high school sweetheart Kassie (SHS class of '78) in Old Town Tacoma. We had 2 kids Aaron and Randy, who I wouldn't trade for anything. We divorced in 1988. I guess all I can say about that chapter of my life is that I grew up a little, and I wish Kassie well.
In 1992 I married my wife Jeannie on the beach in Hawaii. We raised her son from her first marriage, and my two kids in North Tacoma, and later moved to Graham, where Jeannie and I live today. All the kids have now moved out of the nest, and we are currently remodeling our house. We're almost finished with 2 rooms to go. We gutted it inside and out, and are having a great time recreating our space; changing it from a cramped house for five, into a roomy home for two. Our home is on 2.5 acres south of Graham "Visitors Welcome." In the back we have a pond with ducks, rabbits, 2 goats, 2 miniature donkeys, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.
