Hi there! This is a quick version of my story... As you may know, I grew up in Broomfield, and went to high school at Regis. I majored in biology at Colorado College, in Colorado Springs, and graduated in 1987. A month later I moved to Santa Barbara, CA, to pursue my Doctorate in deep-sea biology. 5 years and many adventures later, including submersible dives, getting married and having my daughter Katrina, I finished my Ph.D. We moved to Monterey, CA where I continued my research as a PostDoctoral Fellow at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute (MBARI). This led to a staff position at the Monterey Bay Aquarium itself, which was developing an exhibit with deep-sea animals. I spent 11 years at the Aquarium -- moving away from research and into science communications. I ended up being involved with Web, publishing, education program development and media relations.
