Randy's Story
Life
After high school I started working at the Naval Aviation Depot in Norfolk, but got bored with that in a year. After trying out a NASA electronics program (I found that uninteresting as well), I moved to Illinois to pursue a degree in Anthropology and Music. Somehow I ended up working at the university in the Department of Academic Computing, then at a newspaper. I used to work at the Missouri Botanical Gardens cataloging rare books, but am now a book preservationist/conservator at Hampton University.
I have worked in many bands. The most productive was Killers of Modern Agony. We played throughout the mid-west and recorded 1 CD together...Expand for more
that got worldwide distribution. I had been working with the progressive-rock group Sense Datum, but this band dissolved a few years ago.
I married the smart, talented, and beautiful Leigh Ramsey (class of '93) in '02, though we'd lived together since '95. We have two sons.
My lifestyle has not really changed much (other than I have to dress nicer for the job). I still listen to and play metal music (as well as jazz, classical, opera, and classic rock), avidly read, play with computers, continue to take courses to expand my knowledge base, and print and repair historical books.
