Randy's Story
Workplace
I have worked for Plastech since 1994. I work for Information Technologies under Web Development. I started in 1994 working for the H&P Plant in Brooklyn Ohio. I worked in the Quality Department as a Quality Auditor. In 1995 I was asked to create a database in Microsoft Access 2.0 for the Quality Department to do Quality Alerts, Customer Complaints, Receiving Inspection, Final Audit and In-process Inspection Sheets..
In 1998 I switched to the Columbia Plant to learn how to run a DCC Coordinate Measuring Machine. It was Gidden & Lewis running Measure Max Software. We started to go for QS-9000 Certification when I was asked again to create Access Databases for the plant. I created a Quality and a Production database to comply with QS9000 Standards.
The Quality database did Engineering Approval Product Authorization (EAPA), Suspect Material Tags (Internal, External and Supplier), Rework instructions, Customer Concerns, Supplier Concerns, Return Material Authorization, Calibration, Corrective Actions (...Expand for more
would email the customer in their Format by using Mail Merge), Pareto Charts and Report& logs for all of the forms.
The Production database did Die setting Instruction, Operator Instruction for running the presses, Shearing Instructions, Packaging Instructions and Tracking Out sources parts.
After we received our QS9000 certification I was asked to work for our Corporate Office in Dearborn Michigan (Working out of our Strongsville Plant) and put the Quality database through out the company. At the time there were 16 facilities.
In 2002 We were asked to update the Quality System to a Web based system. Since that time I have used Crystal Reports, HTML, ASP pages, VBScript (one of the coolest items is to create the customer's form in excel or Word on the fly), JavaScript, SQL 7.0 and 2000 (I have created Stored Procedures, Views, Triggers, user functions, created automatic jobs to send email notifications, get updated part information from our AS400.. In February of 2004 I was moved to the IT Department..
