Ray's Story

Got BS in Biology at U. South Alabama, did graduate work in organic, pharmaceutical, and natural products Chemistry at Ole Miss and Southern Illinois University. I spent about 14 years in the West Indies working with marine (mainly fish) toxins, etc. What a different lifestyle that was. In '76 I met a fantastic New York gal named Kim, in the British Virgin Islands; we were married a few years later in the US Virgin Islands. Moved back to Mobile in '87; I've worked for the FDA, as a chemist with a research group, at the Gulf Coast Seafood Laboratory on Dauphin Island (not the ...Expand for more
same as Sea Lab) for 20 years. Kim is a software specialist at CPSI in Mobile. We are looking into building a home on some land we have in Costa Rica, and are thinking about retiring there. Assuming that the economy ever allows us to retire, that is. My hobbies: growing orchids and other tropical plants, glassblowing, lampworking, free diving and scuba (used to be part of my job, getting kinda old now, especially for free diving). Kim absolutely loves pottery making, on the wheel and otherwise, and home design. Pets: we have cockatiels and a large parrot (blue and gold macaw).
