Jiggs's Story
Life
Well, after graduation, I left Starkvegas and joined Uncle Sam's Canoe Club, better known as the US Navy. Saw parts of the world, met some great folks, had some interesting adventures, and some really fun times. I've been back in Starkville for 11 years, and worked for DynCorp at Columbus Air Force Base for 8 years and change, maintaining avionics systems on the aircraft stationed there. In 2003, I married a wonderful, intelligent, and amazing woman from Calhoun County who keeps me on my toes. I got back into motorcycles about 4 years ago in a big way, and have gotten rather proficient with a wrench out of necessity. Not that I mind. steady diet of parts from Ford Racing, Roush, Steeda and Shelby. She's coming along nicely. For those of us that are not millionaires, or have sponsors, speed is earned an ounce at a time.
Military
Ah, the good old Navy. I enjoyed assignments at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and also at NAS Norfolk, VA. Eight years was enough for me, although it has occurred to me lately that if I had stayed I would have retired this year. Nevertheless, I have fond memories of the places I went, the duties I performed, the people I worked with, and the aircraft and watercraft I worked on. I learned that sometimes, you don't have to like it, you just have to do it. Service taught me discipline, and it serves me well today. You can take a man out of the Navy, but you can't take the Navy out of the Man. To all my Military brothers and sisters, those still active and those who have gone on, Navy and other services, Thank You for Standing the Watch. It has not gone unnoticed, and it is NEVER in vain.
