Left Jordan. Went east. Vassar College. Poughkeepsie, New York. Crashed summer 1973 and 1974 in Berkeley. In a co-op dorm. Spent Junior Year Abroad. American University in Cairo , Egypt. Finshed vassar in 1976. BA, Political Science, U.S. Foreign Policy, Middle East Studies. Back toLA. Studied Arabic at the Monterey Institute of Foreign Studies. Lived in Carmel. Total language emersion. Then south to Claremont Graduate School of International Studies. Ph.D., GLobalAffairs, focus on East and Southern Africa. Led three overseas groups for Operation Crossroads Africa -- to the Sudan (1979), Kenya (1980) and Lesotho (1982), Spent a year in NYC at the National Urban League. ident. Finished my doctoral dissertation in 1981 -- The Importance of the Indigenous Entrepreneur to the Third World Development Process. Still worth reading. Ph.D., Claremont, 1982. Moved to Washington, D.C. Got married (for the first time). Three years as a consultant in economic development and technologies transfer. Joined the Foreign Servicein 1985. Jamaica, Venezuela (divorce), Barbados, Guyana (remaried) , Lesotho, Kenya, the Sudan, Washington, D.C. I am a Graduate of the National War College, 2003. From 2006-2209, I was Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria, South Africa. Now i am in Stuttgart, German working as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Commander of the US Africa Command. Lots of travel on the continent. Happy enough...
