Life Shortly after graduation from High School I was drafted and spent the next 2 years in the Army. My tour of duty was split between South Carolina, Viet Nam, and Germany before being discharged in September 1968. After the Army I briefly worked for the Town of Hempstead Highway Department before becoming a Nassau County Police Officer on October 10, 1969. I was a Police Officer for 35 years. 11 years street patrol followed by a brief assignment to the Police Academy (Firearms Section). For the remainder of my career was assigned to the County's (EMO) Emergency Management Office where I was responsible for writing, evaluateing and testing both natural and man-made emergency plans and procedures. During my career I was assigned to just about every major disaster to strike the state of New York, from hurricanes, blizzards, ice storms, floods, air crashes, wild fires, the LIRR Masacre and I concluded my career working for three months at Ground Zero. I was responsible for coordinating the massive logistics operation during the massive response and recovery effort that took place after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. On July 11, 2002 I retired I was married for 22 years but divorce in 1997. I have 2 great kids. A daughter Renee (29) and a son (Ryan 25). Renee, lives and works in Phonix Arizona. On September 14th 2005 I became a proud Grandpa when my daughter gave birth to twin girls. Ryan, is a New York City Police Officer and also a Staff Sergeant (Combat MP) in the Army Reserves. His unit saw action in Iraq in 2005 and will probably be redeployed again. I stay in touch with a couple of my friends from our high school days, as well as some of my old Army buddies. Hopefully, our class will have a 50th reunion since we didn't have a formal 40th. It's always nice to see and catch up with some of my former classmates. I suffered a couple of heart attacks back in 81 (I was 34 years old) but thanks to the marvels of modern medicine and a great doctor I've been in good health ever since. I would have to say, all things considered that my life in genaral has been very rewarding and in spite of a few bumps along lifes highway. I have no regrets. Maybe a few what if's, but then again who dosen't. School What can I say about high school. It was great being young. No responsibilities to anyone but yourself. So life was good.
