Raymond's Story
I graduated Eli Whitney in June of 78. While there I worked at nights, went to school and hung out with friends on the weekends. This was a time where there was still a sense of innocence in the air (no habia tanta malda) After graduating Eli I joined the military, I married and lived in North Carolina.
I'm still in uniform as a Reservist (updated) retired in 2014., divorced in 85. I married again 17 yrs later to a very supportive, Independent, and wonderful woman. We share a home in the Hudson Valley region of NY together we have 5 children and 3 grandkids, Yo soy Abulo, jajaja Boy time went by quick.
Although I left Williamsburg, I still visit my old buddies and talk about how much has changed in the old neighborhood. Where long summer days would allow us to play, Johnny on the pony, skelly, Coco Levio, and baseball in an abandon lot, or at the post office. I always find time to make a stop en la Marketa down by Moore st, I remember buying most of my salsa from, San German, or Johnny Albino record shop. p that allow me to feel proud of being Latino.
I can only hope that friends will remember me as being sincere to them and always there and still joking after all these years. There is humor in almost everything in life.
When I get on a roll I blow off steam by hitting the gym racquetball, weights and a light jog.
I really was not much into being too mischief however I remember that I was able to imitate the siren that would indicate time to change class, I would do this during lunch, a loud hum I would do and people would begin to exit the lunch room, like 10 minutes early.
Some of my hero or those that inspire me are those that broke ground Roberto Clemente, Ruben Blades, Don Pedro Albizu. However there are always those that will inspire me and allow a person to feel proud of knowing them My three daughters Graciella, Nicole, Anubis my son Michael and my beautiful wife Liz. Life is such that obstacle may and will present themselves to them but they push remembering that This Too Shall Pass.
I recently lost my mother Gloria and my father inlaw within a seven month time span. I know that both are in the right place and that I will see them again. Life is such ......
Its really been a Wonderful life..
