Rebecca's Story
Life
4000 characters to update everyone on my life? Yeah right. The highlights are that I am married, have two beautiful baby girls, own a big house and a nice car and run my own (please don't ask) business. Okay, I guess my husband and I run it together. I can finally admit that I can't do everything on my own and need some help once in a while. I have big dreams for my babies, my home and my life and I am working hard to fulfill those dreams.
School
After many unsuccessful attempts to get a high school diploma, I attended Georgian College as a mature student. I was in an art program, but quit after one semester. I decided to come home and find a decent job. I thought that working at Stats for $11.00 per hour was great, until I realised that I was getting nowhere. I went back to Northern at the age of 21. I was the oldest student in the school. Even the teachers made fun of me. I finally completed something I started by ...Expand for more
graduating from there in 2003.
College
I have too many interests to narrow down a subject to study in college so I simply looked at the Canadore College website and applied to the most "interesting" program I found: Correctional Worker. After a rocky start, I managed to graduate with exceptional grades. Wow! This is the second thing I ever completed in my life. I'm on a roll.
I took a year off after college. My first daughter was born 3 days after graduation. I enrolled at Nipissing University and have completed all courses needed for a Bachelor of Arts (3 year) Combined Major in Sociology and Political Science.
I had planned on staying on for another year to get my honours, but having another baby has made it quite a challenge. I bring my baby to school with me whenever possible. My 4th year will be stretched out over 2 years.
After I finish that, I am hoping to go on graduate studies, but I don't want to move too far away.
