Ree's Story
I don't know if anyone really reads this, or if they care, but here goes...
After high school at Harrison, I went to college (U of A), didn't graduate, dated a guy for 2 years, got married to someone else(go figure!), got pregnant(not necessarily in that order), got pregnant again, then again, and finally after the 4th time, the hubbie got that "problem" fixed. Best decision we ever made. Not to mean I don't want my kids. I just would recommend 4 in 6 years. Not fun...
After marrying Jeff in '93, we moved to Georgia and lived there for 3 years. We had our first 2 kids there. Our first home was an older home on 3 acres, and we had 36 pecan trees. I LOVED it there! We moved back to Arkansas in '96, and lived in Springdale while we had children numbers 3 & 4. In 2000, we moved to Jeff's family farm in Farmington so our kids would grow up near his family, and they now attend the school he graduated from. Jeff is actually on the school board.
I've been a stay-at-home mom for most of our marriage. I did work for 2 years as a fundraiser for a non-profit, and left that to start my own business. I sold my interest in "Mascots" to my business partner, and started a new business from my home.
I like what I'm doing, even though it isn't what I planned or imagined my life becoming. But I don't know that anyone really fully can know at 18 or even 25 what you will want to do for the rest of your life. And I keep changing my mind!
For anyone who's interested, I married Jeff in 1993. Anna was born later that year and is now a freshman in high school. She plays basketball, and is a much better athlete than I ever dreamed of being. She has started as an 8th grader on the Jr. High team last year, and barring an injury will start again this year. She also plays Volleyball, and is contemplating Softball.
Barrett was born in '95, and he is the image of his father. He is not very big now, but his foot is HUGE and the Dr. says he'll be as big if not bigger than Dad, who happens to be 6'6". He also plays basketball, but he is NOT a standout on the basketball court, but he was good enough to make the team. ...Expand for more
He also plays baseball, and his team won the state Cal-Ripken title for 12's in the 70's division, and played in the Southwest Regional tournament in Gulfport, MS, only to LOSE to BRYANT, AR for a spot in the 12 year old Cal Ripken World Series year before last!! He is the one most like me as far as personality goes, and is in GT.
Flint came along in '97, and he is a looker! And he is a natural athlete. Takes after his Uncles on both sides. He plays basketball, football, and baseball. He is a stereotypical jock in that his grades are not the greatest. Once he finally realized that if he didn't get his grades up he wouldn't be eligible for sports, he has put forth effort and now is on the Honor Roll. I knew he had it in him, but his confidence in sports didn't extend to the classroom. We're making progress.
And my baby is Claudia. She was born in '99, and we should have named her Omega. She's a very pretty child, big smokey blue eyes and dark brown hair, long legs like her dad, and boy is she a talker. She may be the best athlete of all our kids, but she would be just as content to be a cheerleader as a player. She does play pee-wee basketball and softball.
We live in Farmington, AR, and love it here. We are just 5 minutes from Fayetteville, and I can get to the U of A in 10-15 minutes. We have too many dogs, Boston Terriers, and an elderly Cocker Spaniel that we've had forever, and an enormous Golden Retriever(he weighs 125 lbs.) We had a cat, but she took one look at Lulu, Anna's Boston, and left never to return. I had feared she would turn up when we opened the pool that next spring, but thankfully, I only found leaves!
Jeff works for Tyson foods. He's been there for 8 1/2 years. I am working from home, and subbed at school for the first time recently. I have decided that teachers are extremely underpaid, and I don't know how they do it!!!
I hope this is entertaining and informative and that at least one person reads this so it isn't a total waste of my time. HA! Maybe we'll all catch up at our non-reunion that no one wants to plan! I will attend if someone decides to do it!
