Reed's Story
Hello friends from my "John Hancock Academy" days. After graduating, I began teaching youth my age how to pass the GED. Then a year later, I enrolled in a technical college named Mountain States Technical Institute (MSTI). I then went into the industrial HVACR field and loved working on extremely large buildings and equipment, controls, relay logic and many others. Then 5 years later, my favorite teacher from MSTI called me and told me he was injured in the Viet Nam War and he needed surgery. He then asked me to substitute teach his class at MSTI. I accepted, but he never returned. I then continued to teach and increased in the ranks until I became the Training Director. Over the course of about 12 years, my...Expand for more
team and I successfully trained then placed approx. 3200 graduates in high paying jobs.
Later I went to Alaska and worked there a short time, returned and then got married. My family and I were pioneers of the charter school movement in the 1990's in Arizona and have since started up and operated 6 elementary schools 3 of which are still operating with student enrollments averaging from 950-1200 students each and score within the top five schools in the state many times over the years.
In 2009, I had an accident which left me disabled me permanently.
I hope you all have had a great life and have prospered in your lives and hopefully, some of the things you learned at JHA contributed to your prosperity.
