Regina's Story

Highlights: 4/23/2010: Face book is great; seeing a lot of familiar names! 2/10/2010: Short story... Working hard mixed in with some hobbies, no major complaints, hi to all! Long story below... Actually graduating despite personal tragedy of mother dying in senior year (she was quite an ally for me so I had a big adjustment to make). I think we had pretty cool teachers at Santa Cruz High. Mr Davenport, Ms. Beck, Mr. McElroy, Mr. Lawrence--that's one I would like to see again--man; he ran that business application class like nobody's business. Went to Heald Business College for a year (in San Jose); that was a great personal achievement; Cabrillo College didn't seem quite the fit when what I was really looking for was office management skills. I've certainly had a lot of experience in all kinds of different fields--accounting, non-profit, financial services (current industry), etc. Moving to Hawaii and living there for five years was rewarding; I grew a lot personally but got tired of the islands after awhile (thanks to Sarah King Poteete and Clair McPherson for the assistance during that time); came to Los Angeles where I've lived since 1998; did some moving around in between; I would say I'm settled now :) I have been successfully married for 22 years (love the guy!) I work for my husband who is a co-owner in a financial services company (deliverying debt settlement and first-time home-buyer specialized programs). I love what I do--negotiating; coaching; customer service. Interesting times we live in--economice and otherwise. I have one son who is a U.S. Marine. Our two-year old Lab/mix puppy keeps us busy busy! I miss my famous brother tremendously but couldn't be more proud that he left a huge legacy behind that I am immensely proud of and have the opportunity to enjoy listening to and had some of the best times o...Expand for more
f my life seeing at his concerts. If I won $100 million I can't even do the math on where I'd spend all of that but charities; house makeover; every single bill I could find would paid and the rest, save, save, save; travel! (I would surprise my husband with season tickets to Broadway New York to see all of the musicials he could stand!). I would hire a voice coach! I've always wanted to be a backup singer; this was a childhood dream of mine. It doesn't seem like I got the "gift of voice" like my mom and brother had but then again my brother worked awfully hard at it with daily practice so maybe if I did that too? (Who knows?) I am aging gracefully (I hope :); have a positive look forward, and yet reflecting on times past; not the same whack girl I used to be in the '70s! I wonder what other people my age feel about aging looking forward, looking back, looking way ahead into the future?! Life is what you make it! Best to all. 12/31/08: As a native Santa Cruzan, if you have not checked out fellow Santa Cruzan's Larry Dunham's photo album (titled "Mostly 60's Flashbacks & Beyond")in the Santa Cruz High School Community section, I would highly recommend it. Larry has posted 130+ photos of Santa Cruz that are extremely enjoyable. As someone born and raised in Santa Cruz it is a real delight to see the Santa Cruz of olden times. For me it brought back a lot of memories and pride in knowing that my mother and father contributed to Santa Cruz's community through their work in the YWCA and NAACP and as well my father was a World War II Veteran whose last stop on tour was Santa Cruz, World War II ended! He also worked at Prolo Chevrolet for 25 years and was in the Santa Cruz National Guard for 25 years! I know there are lots of other old-time Santa Cruzans out there too with long-time roots. A healthy and prosperous 2009 to all!
