Reid's Story
Life
Let's see, how do you sum up 30 years in one paragraph. I am really sorry I missed the reunion; I would have enjoyed getting re-acquainted. But, Fat Paul had this wedding thing going in Chicago that we planned on attending before anybody mentioned the reunion.
I have a real estate business that focuses on building big box retail, Walmarts, Lowe's and an occasional grocery store. My partner and I have been in business for 12 years or so. It never seems to get to the point where you can really relax.
We live in St. Tammany Parish, technically in Madisonville, on the Tchefuncte River. My office is in Covington. This place is the best kept secret in the South. No crime, no pollution; really like Baton Rouge was when we were kids. The big thing to do on weekends is to attend a High School football game. rthshore of Lake Pontchartrain was a good compromise (I was NOT going to live in the City). Little did I know at the time how nice it would all work out. My friends from the City think it looks like Mayberry; in fact they kid me that it is a wonder I get anything done at all, with out the pressure of the City and the hour long one-way commute I used to put in (I used to drive to an office on Conti Street in the Quarter). It was all really dumb blind luck, but the way we are set up, with a computer, a modem and a phone line I can do business anywhere; there is really no need for me to be downtown any more.
My wife and I have two children, a son who will begin his final year at LSU in premed in the Fall, and a daughter who is 17 (going on 25) and is a Junior in High School. The only challenge is that my daughter has epilepsy, which has taken us to several doctors and clinics all over the country seeking a level of control that seems just out of reach.
I will definitely be at the 50th Birthday Party that is being discussed.
