Rena's Story
Does any one remember Casey from KRLA? He was a DJ. Also hunted down upcomming bands to play at the Hawthorne Civic Center. I worked with him. I even helped set up the bookings. I knew the Beach Boys before they were famous. Everyone who came danced to all the music. The Paper hangers, the Who, yep truth, the 'Who' made a special apperance. My job was to serve soada and take your ticket.Every Wednesday and Saturday from 6:pm till 9:pm. If you remember,reply with your memories.

Burdette and I were there laying on the sand when this guy, stood over me and asked if I would like to be in the Bikini contest. Heck yeah!. I said. My hair was down to my butt in those days. I was # 11 in a line of about 20 or so girls. When the show started, one at a time us girls walked to the end of a plank, turned and walked back. Cut to the chase, I took second place. I was just happy to have been picked. And the show was televised every week with different entertainment. Michael had a small roll in the movie Valley of the Dolls.
