Renae's Story
Life
Graduated from La Tech with a degree in journalism. Was in broadcasting for 20 years before I switched careers and became a banker for a Synovus bank in LaGrange, GA. I have two gorgeous daughters, one who is a senior at Auburn Univ. and one who is a 10th grader. We spend a lot of time going to football games (high school and college). My husband owns his own business and our dream is to retire and move back to Arkansas, either to the mountains or Greers Ferry Lake. I'm very actively involved in community and civic organizations and I have just written a book "101 Most Important Things You Need to Know Before You Graduate" which has just been picked up by a publisher.
School
My craziest school memory is being the only girl in geometry class. My biggest crush? Too many to count. Favorite teacher - Mrs. Elliott. Would I do it all over again? Of course. I have many fond memories of CHS and am...Expand for more
heartsick that it no longer exists.
College
College was a blur and not alcohol or drug induced! I loved being a majorette at LA Tech, I got to go to a lot of interesting towns for football games and I met John Wayne at the Independence Bowl shortly before he died (and had my picture made with him).
I got my degree in journalism after deciding against special ed and graphic design. As much as I've loved my career, I think a graphic artist is what I really should have been.
Workplace
I'm now a Sr. VP at a bank, hard to believe since math was my least favorite subject. I always thought that banking was dull. Boy, was I wrong.
I left a career in television after 20 years, hours were always terrible, and it's a very difficult career when your husband travels and you have small children at home. But I did love all the people I met, places I got to travel to, and interesting stories I got to cover.
