Renae's Story
As a senior in high school, I couldn't wait to graduate. I was there for the social life and wasn't that interested in wasting my day in school. What was I thinking??? At our graduation, I looked around the room as all of us seniors were standing and got a huge lump in my throat. I was realizing that I was never going to see some of the people that I went to school with, in elementary on up. That's turned out to be true. I have great memories of so many of my classmates. I can remember many things from then, in detail, but now it just seems that I hear something in one ear and it just keeps traveling and drops out of the other!
I married Rob Hilton (class of 69), the same year I graduated. What was I thinking? Oh, that's right....I knew it all! ;) We have beaten the odds and have been married 37 years and we still like each other. Ã We have 1 girl and 4 boys and 6 grandkids that we love and adore! I was such a wild child and gave my parents fits, so I was expecting some payback. I have been pleasantly surprised that my children have all turned out great! I guess it's an every other generation thing. ;) Most of my kids live right around this area, but my daughter, Jenn, lives in Corinth, Texas. (Near Dallas) Her husband works for Southwest Airlines at their corporate headquarters. That gives us the advantage of being able to see each other often, because of their flying privileges. She has 1 boy and 3 girls. That would be the majority of my grandkids! We get down to see them 3 or 4 times a year and they get up here about the same number of times. My other darling granddaughter, Kaylee, was born 9 months and 5 days after my son Joel and ...Expand for more
Bethany got married. I would call that a true honeymoon baby. She is 12 months old now. My second son Spencer and his wife Tiffany had a sweet baby boy named Connor on 11/20/08.
I still see Janice Hilton, Jan Macfarlane, Norma Slater and Sharon Barnes on a regular basis. Every once in a while we manage to get together for a lunch or dinner.
The funny thing is after high school I realized that I loved learning and found out that I really didn't know it all. I've still got a lot to learn! I'm still trying to figure out how I can quit working and have money coming in. I would like to finish my BA, so I want to attend full time at Weber State. In the meantime, I'm plugging away at my degree a few classes at a time. In regards to education, my family has all beaten me. My oldest son Brent got an Associates degree in Graphic Design at the career college I am currently working at. Jenn went to the U of U and is finishing her degree in Texas. She was one semester shy of her BA. Spencer received his MBA from Weber last year. He is now working on his 2nd Masters so he can get his degree in computer science. Joey and his cute wife, graduated with their BA's from BYU last spring. My youngest, Mike, is attending Weber State right now, pursuing his BA in Accounting.
We have gone through many trials and I suspect there will be many more, but its all part of life. I always try to remember all the wonderful things that have occurred in our lives and the huge amount of blessings our family have been given. Life is good!
I know, I know, this probably doesn't even resemble the Renae that you remember, but I promise I am a much improved version of her.
