Rene' F.'s Story
Life
Rene Guenette left Fitchburg to fight the Korean War, receiving a purple heart. He was married and had 5 children, 3 girls and 2 boys. He divorced, after 18 years, and moved to Mahatten where he was an Operating Engineer in New York for 10 years. He worked on the Twin Towers and the Varanzno Bridge. He was a member of the Elks Lodge #1419 and was Elk of the year in 1992. He also belonged to the Farternal Order of Eagles #997 were he served as Presidnent the same year his wife was President of the Ladies Auxilary. They were the first married couple to serve together in their Aerie. He married Mary in 1977 and was married for almost 30 years at his death on August 28, 2006. We had a good life together.
