Renee's Story
Life
I'm a retired Special Education teacher. My first 15 years, I taught 3rd-5th grade students with Learning Disabilities, then taught children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ending with Kindergarten-1st grade kids with Autism. After teaching 20 years, I retired in 2017.
I've been married since July, 1979 to Chuck, who is also a retired teacher.
We have two adult children: Laura, born in August, 1980 & Shaun, born in May, 1983.
I went to Andasol Elementary and Patrick Henry Jr. High.
Our daughter graduated from Granada High in 1998, and our
son graduated in June, 2001. Laura went on to graduate from CSUN
with her BA in Fine Arts. She is a very talented photographer and artist. Shaun graduated from Cornell University with an Engineering Degree in Operations Research. Now that I am retired, I enjoy going to workshops at Craftiness, a local crafting supply store. I LOVE to use mixed media to create art journal layouts, gel printing, ATC’s and more. At My Creative Outlet, just two doors from Craftiness, I am felting both 2D and 3D., wet felting, ice dying and doing mosaic projects.
I have tons of art materials at home and they are coming in very handy during the Covid 19 Pandemic. I have been teased for having too much but as long as I am stuck at home, I am dabbling with many different materials. I certainly can’t say that I am bored when I have plenty of materials to keep me busy.!
I hope everyone is staying home and staying safe. Being super high risk, I look forward to having a vaccine so that it is safe for me to go out in public again. Most of all I look forward to seeing family & friends in person, and returning to my favorite workshops.
