Life Do you ever see someone in person or maybe a picture in the Grant County Review and think, "WOW, she (or he) is really looking OLD!!" Then look in the mirror and realize that others might just say the same about YOU?!! Don't know about you, but I just don't FEEL as old as that darn birth certificate tells me I am....LIAR, LIAR! Part is due to the fact I didn't get married until the "ripe ol' age" of 37....and our daughter, Brittany was born when I was 39, so having a daughter in 4th grade keeps me feeling young. (Not to mention running her to dance classes (tap/jazz), cheerleading, baton, basketball practice/games and Girl Scout activities...and I'm the leader) I've been teaching for 28 years now and do still enjoy working with all of the students. Teaching special education gives me the opportunity to impact kids that might not be given much attention in a regular classroom. In fact, I was quite honored when a former student nominated me for "Teacher of the Year" several years ago because I had made a difference in his life. Also, I won a trip to Disneyland because of that same student and could have traveled to California with him (and his mom), but had to turn the trip down due to teacher meetings!! Oh, well! Maybe next time :-) My husband, daughter and I enjoy traveling and try to travel as much as possible. So far, I've traveled in 48 states (out of our 50!) Most recent was Hawaii and an Alaskan Cruise. Also, traveling in Europe is a passion of mine...and I could go every year....if teachers were paid more or if I won that elusive lottery...ha! My first trip to Europe (Germany) came during my senior year in '78 and I've been fortunate enough to go back there and to other countries several times.
