Richard's Story
Life
Since graduation and after 4 years in the Marine Corps with a tour of duty in Vietnam in 66-67 I have been in funeral service for the past 35 years. We will celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary this year and have 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Intend on retiring in 2 1/2 years and looking forward to moving south and avoid the winters.
Update 10/10/07, retired in June, house on market, moving to FL, now have 3 great grandkids. After 38 years in funeral service it's great to now do what I want, when I want. Long time coming but well worth it!!
Update 8/29/08, after nearly a year in FL I'm loving retirement. We live in a gorgeous community on the West Coast of FL just southwest of Ocala. We are raising our 8 year old great granddson who recently started 3rd grade. Not exactly what I had in mind when I retired but happy to be able to do it. Enjoying golf, fishing on the gulf, riding the Harley, maintaining the estate and cruising in my car collection.
Update 9/6/11, Still loving FL and enjoying retirement, have 4 great grandkids now and who knows how many to come. Friends and fa...Expand for more
mily have started coming this way so we're seeing more and more familiar faces. Despite the financial crisis have been fortunate enough to hold on to all the toys though it may be time to thin the herd! Looking forward to many years of happiness and enjoyment!
Update 1/27/14 Our 7th year in FL not missing the cold , snowy New England weather though Central Florida is having it's own cold snap. Staying very busy with our own small company acquiring foreclosed and estate homes, renovating them and offering affordable rentals. Have been Commander of the local Purple Heart Chapter for the past 2 years and enjoy assisting other veterans with their issues. Our great grandson Dandre who lives with us will be 14 soon and a freshman at the Christian private school he attends this fall. He currently plays on the JV Basketball team and that is his passion for now. My wife JoAnn does a great job caring for us, is very active in a local scrabble group and assists with the Ladies Auxiliary when able. Enjoying retirement such as it is, duffing at golf, swimming in the springs and raising honey bees, all part of being active!
