Richard's Story

Life I was born. Being a kid was fun. I don't remember it much. I went to school at Burton Elementary and Middle. Then to Central High. I was shy. I got along with most people. I don't remember high school being clique filled like they are in the movies. I was crazy to have a girlfriend, but I didn't think girls liked me that way. I was insecure. Looking back in my year books I notice that several girls gave me their numbers, yet I never called. And people thought I was smart. Oops. Highlights of high school were writing and performing the class song. Being in the City/Central Showcase, and the musical, Bye Bye Birdie. And meeting my life long friends Phil Burger (now Wardlow) and Joel Biedryzcki. I knew lots of other great people, but never kept in touch. Sorry. :( I graduated. I worked a bunch of retail jobs. They sucked. So I went to college. It was great. I got a degree in Communications & Film/Video. I made really good friends. I had that girlfriend, Cyrille Newman. We had the time of our lives making short movies. She is still one of my best friends ever. I graduated. I went back to working crappy jobs. Then I worked as a substitute teacher for a couple years in the Grand Rapids Public School system, so I got to revisit my alma maters in a different light. Then GRPS outsourced their subs and required me to pay a fee to remain on board. A...Expand for more
fter that I found an opportunity to get the much needed experience in my field. I worked at the Grand Rapids Community Media Center for a year through a volunteer organization called AmericorpVISTA. It was great. The year ran out and I had a rough few months before I found more crappy retail work. I still search for that elusive 'job in my field', which becomes a career. Wish me luck. In the meantime I have been playing guitar and writing songs (since 1987) and have long tried to make that passion into something that would make money, as yet that eludes me as well. In 2007-08 I had a band together briefly, but the drummer had issues and kept yelling at me, so I left. I am working on a new collection of songs with a local producer and hope to have a CD out early next year. I did not grow up. And I'm not going to. Sure I can be responsible, act like an adult, be professional, I'm not saying I'm childish. I am still basically the same person I was in high school. I am just more secure and a little bit wiser. I will not be stuffy, or conservative, just because I happen to be older. I could go on and on. But lets stop here for now. We can catch up more if we ever see each other. The best way to contact me is the email place that begins with Y. My name there is andersort. Later, Richard T. Anderson
