Ah, Miami and some Bakers
RAGBRAI went by our place this morning. What a friendly group--lots of waves and hellos.
Yesterday we saw the first bobcat either of us has ever seen. We were thrilled, but by the time we got the camera out, he was almost gone. Here is the photoshopped picture we got. What fun!
Fun-loving trio in the Ranger
I know our zucchini plants are large, but how could I have missed this???

Here's our new family member--we get her just before Christmas. We haven't picked a name yet--suggestions welcome.
Here's Bella again. She's cute, smart, and needs lots of attention. And she gets it!
How's this for a sweet valentine?
Cmon Dad, it's way past feeding time! What are you waiting for?
Look what I found. I almost never can spot morels, and I wouldn't have found these if I hadn't almost tripped over them.
Ah, found one of my favorite orchids in flower today--putty root (Aplectrum hyemale). They used to be common at our place, but there are very few left, and I'd never seen one in flower here.
Well, we're trying to keep the pollinators happy.
So beautiful on our prairie (except for the fracking Japanese beetle down below). I like to use fracking as a curse word.
Tonight we saw one of my favorite sights, one we see usually once a summer in the early evening. Dozens of dragonflies (blue darners I think), and at the same time, dozens of swallows (rough-winged swallows I think) zooming
How sweet it is! Baby Faye is growing up fast.
Guess we won't be eating lunch on the deck today. May have to wait a day or two.
Happy New Year and Go Hawkeyes!
