Richard's Story

Well, after graduating I entered and retired from the Army. worked at Cabot Creamery back in VT for a bit. then drove school bus for Twinfield for 7 years, then worked in Corrections for 7 years, then went West to SLC for 7 years and drove Over the road. Now I just build firearms and grow green stuff to fill in the gaps of retirement (in the southern part of the US. Bottom Line, "Live Free and Die Hard". (BTW, pictures are reversed because my current mood for this current period is in Military mode), and I don't have any pictures that survived that period of my life. Oh and yea I am unjabbed, haven't had a single shot since I retired in "92 and haven't seen a doctor. I don't know about y'all but I feel great and no issues at all. You can find me on FB. I figured out the meaning of LIFE, it's really quite simple, live it, if you fear to try something, then you aren't living life, you are restricting life. Yanno, I am afraid of heights? So one of the first things I did upon entering the Military was join for 82nd Airborne. I still had an extreme fear of heights and in the beginning of the 2nd week of Jump School I chickened out, they released me from that commitment and I got assigned to 101st Airborne where they used Helicopters to transport. Well in '74 they started a new Course there, Air Assault where they taught everything from calling in aircraft for targets, to sling loading equipment (moving jeeps, artillery etc. using Helicopters, and also Rappelling and climbing into Helicopters using ladders) so there was my heights agian, however this time I completed it. I graduated from the very First Air Assault class given at Ft. Campbell, Ky in April '77, That same year (in fact a month later) I was on my way to Panama, wher...Expand for more
e I spent 3 years (It was a year and a half tour but I extended it for another year and a half), where in that same year the "School of the Americas" which was a Military School on Ft. Gulick (just down the road from where I was stationed) which housed the 7th Special Forces Group, and trained Officers and higher ranked enlisted Military personnel from other Central and South American Countries on Tactics, Special Operations, etc. Well they were going to give their last Airborne Class that would include American Personnel, and I Volunteered. The only difference between Ft. Benning and Ft. Gulick was the class was 1 week shorter and did not include the 250 ft. tower week. I went and completed it this time, even though I have no idea how I didn't s**t my pants the first time I jumped out of a C-130. Bottom line is I didn't and at the same time I loved jumping out of aircraft. and I AM STILL AFRAID OF HEIGHTS (go figure). Those were the days, and would give up everything here except my firearms to be back in the Jungles of Central and/or South America. **now some are wondering why I am putting this here, so let me explain. Probably about Half my class will never be here on this site, some are already dead, some took the Covid Jab which will kill more of my class. there will be some that haven't taken the Covid "Vaccine" (the smart people), but all in all, I paid for this site and I am get my moneys worth.** Though it would be nice to talk to Ginny and several others again, I doubt that will ever happen. Charlene comes to mind, she is probably the cutest girl from our Class but no one other than me ever really cared for her. And I should thank Ginny's mother for her typing classes because I still use her teachings to this day.
