Richard's Story
Life - 2021
My wife and I survived 2020, the year from hell, and Covid. Now we're back to living life again.
I've been married to my wife, Juli, for over 35 years. We have 2 sons and a daughter. Our oldest son also graduated from Amador ('04), and now lives in Las Vegas with his wife and our granddaughter. Our middle son completed 2 years at Amador before we moved to Monument, Colorado and finished his education there. He currently works for Safeway. Our daughter finished her Culinary degree in Colorado. She met a wonderful man from Denmark who helped her escape her abusive 1st marriage. They communicated by FaceTime with each other for the next year and fell in love. She moved to Denmark and they got married. She fulfilled her long standing dream of moving to Europe.
I retired in October of 2004. I was an Air Traffic Control Traffic Management Specialist and had been in Air Traffic Control for over 22 years. My wife, Juli, is also retired from the Air Traffic Control profession.

w up in to the traffic jammed monstrosity it had become, we decided to move to Monument, CO so that our children could grow up in the same type of community that I did. We live about 4 miles outside of town in the Pike National Forest. We live at the base of a mountain about 15 miles north of Pikes Peak. It's great to wake up each morning and look at the views of the mountains. We love spending the days watching the neighbor's horses, the evenings watching the deer graze our property, and at night listening to the coyotes, foxes, mountain lions, and bears as they roam the property. We were raising and showing dogs but no longer. After having 11 dogs that we showed, we now only have one English Cocker Spaniel as a companion.
We enjoyed traveling around the country in our RV but due to Covid, it hasn't been taken out of the garage since 2019. We bought a vacation home in San Luis Obispo, CA and spend as much time there during the winter as we can. We have a Jeep and also enjoy exploring Jeep trails where ever we find them. Nothing like climbing over boulders and through streams.
Life just can't get any better.
