Joseph (Richard)'s Story
Richard is from Santa Fe, New Mexico. Richard's schools include St. Michael's High School, Saint Francis Cathedral School. Richard spent 20 yeaars in the US Marine Corps. He travelled around the world lliving in 23 different countries. Richard rose to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) in 12 years of active duty. By his 19th year he was on the promotion list for 1st Sergeat (1Sgt). Since this was so close to his 20 yeaars of service Richard turned the promotion down. One of the major highlights in Richard's career was being incharge of Operation Fiery Vigil in the Philippines. This operation encompassed the evacuation of Americans living in the cities affected by the erruption of the volcano Mount Pinatobo. Richard set up a recieving area for the Evacuees and landing strip for the Sikorsky Sea Stallions (CH53E) and Phrogs (CH46) being used in the operation. Richard received a Navy Achievement Medal for the successful completion of the operation. Aside from coordianationg the evacuation Richard coordinated the maintenance of the helicopters and procured food and water for the 30-40 troops assigned to the operation. Richard's career in the Marines allowed him to live in 23 different countries.

vo Rents, Godwin Pumps Of America, Sunbelt Rentals, and Ivy Hi Lift in Artesia CA.. Richard started out repairing fork lift, scissor lifts, back hoes and loaders to name a few of the machines entrusted to him to repair and maintain. After 4 years with Ivy Hi lift he rose to position of Service Manager, putting him in charge of the Maintenance Department.
When he worked for Ahern Rentals Richard became a branch manager. At one of the branches was located an Ace Hardware Store. This store also was part of the Ahern opeation and supervised by Richard along with the Renta of Construction Machinery.
After 20 years in the military and 20 years in the rental industry Richard had a near fatal accident which left him partially disabled. Since 2013 Richard stopped working and lives on his retirement pension and disabillity pay along with his wife.
