Richard's Story
Life
After 20 years on the East Coast, I returned to California in 1985 for a new position in Palo Alto. I retired at the end of 2008 as the Western VP for a national market research and polling firm based in New York. After four years of teaching and tutoring part-time at DeAnza College, a local community college, plus some communications consulting, board service and volunteering , I removed the training wheels and headed into full-time retirement.
Luisa and I celebrated our golden wedding anniversary in 2014, and we have three grown children, plus eight grandchildren. My hobbies include music in all forms, sports events (no surprise), tennis (my wife is a USTA senior and member of several teams), travel (most recently Antarctica, the British Isles and Africa, followed by China, South America, the Mediterranean coast and the Baltics, (including Russia) and wines. ch I've dubbed "Evangeline."
I served as webmaster for my graduating class at Saint Mary's College, building interest and anticipation online as we observed our 50th reunion. I am also active with Facebook, managing a page devoted to Ells High School Alums & Friends and belong to a lunch group of Richmond-area grads called the "Niner Diners.", And I served on the committee that organized a successful Ells multi-class reunion picnic on October 6, 2017. If you are active on Facebook, please send me a Friend request so you can see our posts, photo albums and several other Ells grads I'm sure you'll recognize. It's a great way to stay in touch with friends across the miles.
I'm excited by the fact that our daughter has located in Windsor, which gives us a further excuse to visit the Sonoma wine country. Our sons and their families live in Annandale, VA and Zug, Switzerland,, respectively. After a long business career, I'm enjoying the opportunities to travel (on my own agenda), try some new things, and link up with friends. Hope you will call on us if your plans ever bring you toward Silicon Valley.
