Richard's Story

Life Greetings from Fort Wayne, Indiana. Yes, I have again moved. In 2002 I was asked to come back to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod's seminary and be the Advisor on Personal Growth and Leadership. I deal with the personalities of the future pastors of the the church. I give them all kinds of assessments on personality and behavior. I now have my Doctor of Ministry Degree. So, I can use the title Rev. Dr. Richard Davis. Family is growing and moving as well. skypilot_1at hot... if you want to get in touch. I thought I would add a look at my life from high school to now. I wrote about this in one of our reunion books but that was some 20 years ago. :) First ten years after high school: Well lets see, I went to Concordia College in Portland, dropped out and went into the Air Force and was stationed in Turkey during the Vietnam War. Finished playing Air Force and went back to Concordia Portland and got an AA degree, then up to Tacoma and got a BA degree and then moved to Fort Wayne for seminary and got a Master of Divinity Degree. Then in 1980 I was a pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Leadville Colo. (I think you can see the pattern by now.) 1980-82 At Leadville, then the mine closed and the people left town, so I had to move. An openning in the Air Force Chaplaincy for a Missouri Synod Lutheran was available, so...Expand for more
I took it. First duty station was Altus, Ok, then after 3 year to Hahn, Germany, then after 3 years Tacoma, Washington, for 4, which takes me through the second ten years after graduating. Then from Tacoma I was sent to Shepperd AFB in Witchita Falls, Texas. After 3 1/2 years there, then on to Okinawa, Japan. After 4 years there I retired from the Air Force and has a small church in Kent, WA. Being close to home and family was nice. This was in 1998. Well, in 2002 I got a phone call in Jan. asking me if I would be interested in a position with the main Church Body of the Lutheran Church Missiouri Synod. I ask questions and was interviewed and low and behold, here I am in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We have lived here for almost 6 years now. It is the longest that we have ever lived in on place in 37 years. As a matter of fact the house we live in is the one that we have lived in the longest in all those years of marriage. Check out the pictures of the last class reunion on the community photo area. Please help plan our 40th coming up next year in 2010. I am trying to contact everyone in hopes someone helps. I think a Friday--Sunday would be nice with a golf game and other activities. I set tenative dates on the event page here but I am open to suggestions. Stay in touch, who knows what this decade will bring. God Bless, Rich
