Richard's Story
Life
In 2004 we had a house built for us in Woodstock,IL.
In October of 2006 I finished building my 540 sq. ft. deck. We will starting up our annual huge Summer BBQ/ Drinking parties again. It's been 4 years since our last one so it will be fun.
Now I have to prepare to start landscaping the yard. My wife (Tiffany) and I have decided to scrap the gazebo with hot tub and go with a brick patio with a large burn pit. In the near future I will be finishing the basement. And yes, amazingly enough, I do it all myself.
In 2006 I was the head coach for my sons (Justin) baseball team and we finished 5 out of 12. Now I am looking foward towards the 2007 season. I also coached my daughters (Ashley) Tee Ball Team for the second year and I will be coaching her Bittie Ball Team this year.
Justin was unable to start football this year because he went to Florida to visit with Tiffany's parents. For me, a lot of you knew that I lived with my mother and grandmother. In 1999, my grandmother passed away and my mother (Diane) and my Uncle (David) sold my home in Palatine. As of 2000, Diane now lives in Round Lake, IL and David still lives in Palatine.
Well I just finished my vacation. It's great being able to take off from 12/09/2006 and not having to go back to work until 01/02/2007. We also just celebrated my wife's 30th birthday. And for her present I bought 30 gifts, 1 for each year. I also took her out to dinner and had her best friend flowen in from Georiga. Isn't 30 fun? I hope all of you and your familys found the new year in good health and have a great NEW YEAR!
Workplace
On March 26, 1998 I was hired by the City of Woodstock, IL as a Police Officer. Now, I am approaching my 9th year with the City.

ecome and still am, a Bicycle Patrol Officer, a Field Training Officer (FTO), a Juvenile Officer, and I am a member of Woodstock's first Crisis Intervention Team, which members received special training in dealing with suicidal and mentally disturbed citizens.
In May of 2006, I became a certified after completing the 40 Hr. Gang Specialist Training.
In November of 2006, me and several other officers had just completed Rapid Response training. This is training is a light form of S.W.A.T. training. For instance, a gun man takes over a business or a school and activetly is shooting a Rapid Response team would be put together and enter the school to secure or emliminate the threat.
I just bid Midnights again for 2007 and it will be my 8th year on this shift. I love it on this shift. I do not perfer the other two shifts because they are to political in natural, IE: To much butt kissing needs to be done on those shifts and the urge to give everyone a warm fuzzy. On Midnights we go do or job and do it right and we move onto the next call. Trust me when I say that once you become used to not seeing that much daylight, the nocturnal life isn't all that bad. It is also great for the family life, minus the fact that you drag or lack motivation a lot of the time.
In 2001, 2002, & 2005 I've been recognized by M.A.D.D. for being one of the Top Ten D.U.I. Officers in McHenry County, and I'm striving to be #1 someday. In 2005, I was ranked fourth in McHenry Country for my D.U.I. Enforcement. From 2001 to 2005 I have been recognized by A.A.I.M. for my D.U.I. Enforcement. It looks like I will be recognized in 2006 again by M.A.D.D. and A.A.I.M. I was also advised by one of my Sergeants that I complete approximately 75% of the police departments D.U.I. Arrests.
