Richard's Story
Life
Raised 3 dogs (two scotties and one pembroke welsh corgi) between 1987 and 2002. We were not going to get another dog, but my sister-in-law had this chihuahua pup that needed a home. Well, Delilah will be two years old on the 13th of April and a real challenge! She is a good dog and wants attention all the time!
School
Became a sophmore in Sep 51, quit fall of 52 in junior year. Had a car accident December 1 1952 and came back to high school in Sep 53. Stuck it out and finished in June of 1955!
College
Started in Munich Germany with the University of Maryland after duty hours, but our first two daughters were born over there, so I didn't accomplish much more that that! After I retired in 1978, made another effort with Central Ohio Technolical College, but working full time and going to school was too much, so I gave that up and threw my efforts into my job.
Workplace
From over 21 years in the military, 19 years of civil service, 3 years on a golf course and now I am working as a custodian for the city school system as a substitute (on call). I do not plan on giving up in the near future, just keep plugging! I went back to work after my cancer surgery, however with the changing requirements of working days some weeks then nights others, some of the work was also heavy, I decided to go on full retirement.
Military
After two years in the New Jersey National Guard, I entered military service by volunteering for two years active duty as a PFC. I found myself in Munich Germany right after m...Expand for more
y second eight weeks of training, so I re-enlisted for six years to bring my wife to Germany. Left there three years latter as an E-5. Seven years after that, I was promoted to E-6 and after two more years, I was promoted to SFC-E7. Several times after that I was recommended for promotion to E-8, but it never happened.
I always wanted to be a SERVICEMAN when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a GOOD idea. As it turns out, they were RIGHT.
WHEN I GET BENT OUT OF SHAPE, I TAKE A WALK AND COOL DOWN.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is WAREN HAGUE, because OLD BUDDY.
INTO GARDENING, DOGS, GOLF AND BOWLING
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel BUILD A NEW HOUSE and add on a BASEMENT AND TWO CAR GARAGE. My dream home would be SINGLE FLOOR.
If I won $100 million, I'd give SOME of it to MY KIDS, then spend the rest on NEW HOME, UPGRADE VEHICLES and SELECTED CHARITIES.
My current age is 75. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be JUST CREEPING AROUND. I was so completely WRONG.
FORGET IT, I AM RETIRED!
MORE RELAXED STYLES NOW, OCCFASIONALL DRESS UP
I share my home with WIFE AND DAUGHTER PLUS OUR CHIHUAHUA, which I find JUST FINE.
My first job was at BORDENS BISQUITS, where I got paid NOT ENOUGH to SUPPLY FLOUR TO MAKE BISQUITS. What I remember most about it is I WORKED FOR A FRIEND I HAD WORKED WITH BEFORE.
