Richard's Story
Life
Hi to all my friends and fellow classmates from NAIT, Queen E., Rosslyn, Wellington, and Calder.
I had a quick look through the 1964-65 year book. Goodness, we were so optimistic in those days. Some of our goals were set too low and some others were set, perhaps, a bit too high.
After graduation from QE, I attended NAIT. I followed my high school interest and studied Photographic Technology for 2 years. I was offered a job at CFRN TV and jumped at it. I worked as a newsreel cameraman and photographer for 7.5 years. CTV National News offered me a three year contract. I jumped at that, too! Then CBC National (French) offered me yearly contracts during which I was transferred to Vancouver, finishing in 1986. During those years in television, I travelled to Europe, south to Galveston Texas and California, north to the tip of Ellesmere Island NWT, and throughout all of Canada. ...Expand for more
I met many of my sports heros, countless big-wig politicians, met and travelled with Prince Charles, covered two tours by Queen Elizabeth, and loads of movie and rock stars. It was quite a career but I left it to work in the movie industry. I had learned to edit film so that's the roll I fulfilled in television series and motion pictures. After nine years of that crazy business I decided that a change was overdue. I am now a licensed Realtor working with Royal LePage. I live in Port Coquitlam, BC. with my wife, Jane (Buffel) of over 40 years. We are blessed with two fabulous daughters (and their husbands) and two fabulous grandsons, Jake and Kyle. Life is good!
My wife and I moved to Vernon, BC in mid July 2011. I have started a new career as a licensed Strata Property Manager. I love Vernon. It's nice and quiet, compared to metro Vancouver and it is dryer than the "Wet Coast".
