Richard's Story
Life
Hello Everyone,
I hope that you are all doing well. It seems like high school was such a long time ago.
After high school, I attended the University of Manitoba and received diplomas from the faculties of Science and Business.
I started working in the pharmaceutical industry right out of University and specialize in clinical drug research. I enjoy my job as I travel to a variety of cities and countries on a regular basis.
I moved to Raleigh, North Carolina in 1996 in order to spend some time in a warmer climate.
In 1998, I married my girlfriend (Shari) of 8 years. That is her in the attached photo. We lived in North Carolina for 5 years before moving to Paris, France at the end of 2001.
We plan on staying in France for 4 years as we have a US green card that requires us to return to the USA by 2006 if we want to keep it.
Life in Europe is pretty good. We get 7 weeks of vacation each year as well as all the holidays and a 35 hour work week on top of that!!
I still stay in touch with some people from high school. I see Ken Steen, Brett Miller, and Dave Kurz each time I come back to Winnipeg.
I also see Greg Bent on a regular...Expand for more
basis. He now lives in Toronto, so I see him often as I travel to Toronto for work. Greg is also nice enough to invite us to come skiing at his condo in Whistler over New Year's each year.
At present, my job is taking me to Canada, Israel, London, and Amsterdam. I also have a local site in Paris where I can practice my "not so good" French. I should have paid attention in French class.
Outside of work, my wife and I travel as much as possible and take in as much of the Parisian life as we can. It seems that we are out until 3AM almost every weekend. The Parisians really don't eat dinner until 10PM and the nightlife only starts up after midnight. Given our lifestyle, we have no children at the present time.
For the future, I just want to see as much of the world as I can and enjoy life. My wife and I both would like to work in Australia some day. Il y a trop de decisions a prendre et trop peu de temp dans la vie.
If you are ever in Paris, look me up in the white pages. I live in the heart of Paris and would be glad to show you around.
As of 2006, we will be living in San Francisco for a few years until we get the urge to move again.
