Rick's Story
Life
In a nutshell? College at U of MD, then on to Georgetown Univ for med school. Did my Emergency Medicine residency in Akron from '80-'83, then spent 2 years in Erie, PA to pay back my Public Health scholarship. Spent '85 - '91 in Baltimore at St. Agnes Hospital as the Vice Chief of the ED, then moved to beautiful VA Beach to assume the Chair of EM at Chesapeake General Hospital. undergrad, teaches high school Spanish) in '80, have 2 kids: Monica, 19 (in her soph year at U. of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, double majoring in International Studies and Political Science) and Zach 16, a sophomore in high school majoring in cars and girls. My parents still live in the same house in Bethesda, my sister Teri lives a mile from them and also is an MD, a clinical researcher at NIH. Was at the Heart Institute for 15 yrs, recently moved over to the Genomics Institute, more exciting.
