Richard's Story
Richard married Theresa (VEGA) in 1961 and they remain married to this day. They have four children, nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Richard retired as a Sheriff's Captain after 32 years in law enforcement. Through the years he earned his Bachelor's in Sociology and Master's in Organizational Management. Theresa, likewise, took an early retirement from her job with the State at the Porterville Developmental Center. She is an expert on holistic healing and alternative health treatments and exercises daily. Richard was a long time member of the local school board and is active at the State level in public education issues and politics. Both Theresa and Richard are actively involved in their church as are most of their children and grandchildren. Several of Theresa's siblings still live in the Valley and they make periodic visits to the old haunts. Occasional VEGA family reunions in or around Weldon are especially fun times.

ade teacher. Her husband is a financial consultant. They have two daughters,both of whom have graduated from college are married mothers and are enjoying their careers in business and education, respectively and two sons who are married fathers. One is an engineer the other works in Corrections. The second, Dean, teaches high school industrial technology and computer-based design. He and his wife, Ronda, have one daughter who is married and a college counselor and another daughter in college who is competitive swimmer. The third, Denny, is a park ranger in Colorado. He and his wife, Leia, who is an accomplished artist, have one daughter who is a designer. The fourth, David, is a State Correctional Officer. His wife, Jami is a nurse. They have a daughter who is studying nursing and a son in high school. In addition to their 9 grandchildren they have 10 great grandchildren.
When not busy with church, family or school projects Richard and Theresa enjoy short trips with their RV to the coast or mountains, taking annual cruises to romantic places and vacationing in tropical spots, particularly Maui!
