Richard's Story

Well let's see, those that know me should rememeber, I was a quiet and easy going guy, but ambitious. The 1978 Golden Sentenals Drill Team Commander! After graduation, I continued my education at SAC and St. Mary's University, was in the Corp at St. Mary's and was on the rifle team. In February, 1979, we had a match in Abeline, Tx, on 19 February, we were traveling back to town in a storm, ice on the road and all, when the car I was in was involved in a one car accident (black ice) between Junction and Kerrville. I was thrown from the car and suffered massive injuries, including head trama. They could not handle my injuries in Junction or Kerrville and I was transported to the San Antonio Community Hospital, where I was in a comma for a week. When I finally woke up, (from what I've been told) I had regressed in age, and I do not remember any of what I just relayed. On March 4, 1979 I woke up and remember from that day on (I'm missing 3 weeks of my life). In 1980, I married Esmerlinda Telles and in 1981, I re-enrolled in college at UTSA and joined the Texas Army National Guard as a Cadet. Due to my head injuries (lingering effects), I was unable to finish ...Expand for more
school and had to drop out of college. In 1987 Esmerlinda and I devorced but did not have any children together. (We had a son Daniel Alan) but he was stillborn. I remarried and had a daughter named Priscilla, who is now 23 years old from my second marriage. I married a third time (I know) but she was a crazy one and I moved out in 6 months...devorced in a little over a year. Maybe due to my career(s). I continued my career in the National Guard and in March, 1985 joined the Bexar County Sheriff's Department. In 1990 I was deployed during Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm and in 1997, I deployed to Bosnia, where I served at Eagle Base in Tuzla. I have deployed several more times and progressed through the enlisted ranks, but after 30 years and 7 months, in September, 2011, I will be retiring from the Texas Army National Guard as the Intellegence Sergeant 4/133 F.A S-2 NCO (MSG E-8). I have been with the Sheriff's Dept for 26 years and am currently serving as a Floor Sergeant in the jail with the Dept., but I am fast approaching that retirement too. I am currently single but have been in a committed relationship for about 3 years now. Such is life....
