Rick's Story
Hammond In. is my home town. Lived at 1320 175th St and moved to Hessville when I was 12. Attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help for 7th & 8th grade and high school at Bishop Noll class of 1966.Entered an electrical apprenticeship school at U.S.Steel Gary Works 1967. Enlisted in the U.S.Navy Seabees in 1969 and spent two 9 month tours of duty in Vietnam. Ended active duty April 30th 1971. Entered the IBEW Local Union 697 electrical construction apprenticeship and graduated in 1975.Worked on many construction and maintenance projects from Southlake mall,schools,all of our steel mills in NWI and of course BP Refinery until my retirement in Feb. 2009.
I have three daughters and five grandchildren from my first marriage of 20 years. With my current wife of 17 year...Expand for more
s we have no children between us but I have two Step-sons and seven step grandchildren.
We bought a house in Lakes of the Four Seasons so my wife could be closer to her grandson that she helps care for who is a special needs child. She spends everyday with him Monday-Friday so her son can work. I take care of home chores and maintenance to the home.
I stay active at the Anytime Fitness gym in Winfield. I also play horseshoes and am a member of the NHPA National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and participate in horseshoe tournaments in Indiana and Illinois. I have participated in two World horseshoe tournaments and look forward to the 2015 World Tournament being held in Topeka Kansas.
