Rick's Story
After High school graduation in 1964 I switched from Navy Reserve to active Navy and went to Hospital Corpsman School at Naval Regional Medical Center ~ Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego. ear DaNang South Vietnam. Nine months of being a combat corpsman was one of the hardest things I could experience that was followed by two months as a corpsman (medic) doing sick calls in tiny villages with a civic action unit. As things heated up in the Vietnam conflict I was transferred to Charlie Med which was like a MASH field hospital near Danang. Nothing can prepare you for the death and trauma you see in a field hospital. To be continued.
