Ricky's Story
So, time passes, and as much as we think things have changed...they really remain the same!
My old friends from school would probably recognize me by my current activities. Those things haven't changed much.
I was into music, surfing, art, camping, and enjoying life back in the day, and that still holds true today.
I continue to use music as the cure-all. It is the best form of expression,
next to art. I play, live
music in a Blues band. I still play drums, sing, and now play harmonica, which I picked up a number of years ago.
I still love the ocean, and the outdoors. My vacations focus on water, water, and more water. I am totally hooked on the Florida Keys, and Northern California. My best buddy from our Senn day's, David Schlange, and I get together on occassion at his home in southern California, he is Godfather to my youngest son Mike, who is in the USMC. Several years back , we lost our "sister" Beth Walburg to cancer, and the two of us miss her deeply!
My passion for art is as strong as ever. Of all the media, I enjoy pen and ink most. I usually carry my pens, and paper with me on vacation.
Being a male from the sixties, my love for cars has never changed. I have a project car that I purchased from a retired teacher. It's a 1991 Mazda Miata. I drive it only in the late spring through late fall. It is classic red, with a black convertable top. Through my membership in The Windy City Miata Club, I have been slowly restoring her, and at this point iit s almost completely reconditioned.
I still teach, and coach, and can't see anytime soon that I will retire. I love what I do, and get plenty of days of...Expand for more
f to relax.
I am in Chicago often. I have a ticket plan to the Sox games, and enjoy going to see the Sox with my sons.
Life doesn't always go the way you expect. Jackie and I divorced about ten years ago. My biggest surprise is how much I have discovered about myself since.
I live in a two bedroom loft, in the heart of Aurora Il, right on the Fox River, twenty stories straight up. Makes me feel like I am back in the city!
Three years ago, we were blest with our first grandchild, Kendall Paige. She was born with a weak heart, survived a transplant, and is a very bright, active little girl! She is so much like Jackie it is almost scary, she is a Daddy's girl, and just lights up the room when my middle son Brian enters it, he is a good Dad!
Two, and a half years ago, a friend gifted me with an English Bulldog pup! Although our masct appears to be a Georgian Bulldog, I named him Nick, and his AKC registry name, is Lowy's Nicholas Senn. He brings me much joy, and is a great companion....he would have fit in superbably at Senn, back in the day! I have discovered so much about this fabulous breed of dog, and totally understand why it was chosen to be our mascot. Bulldogs are tenacious, stong, kind, outgoing, loyal, smart, fun, and contrary to popular opinion, not lazy, they do rest often, as they put out so much energy............sounds like so many of us who attended Senn.
It is great to have so many friends and curosity seekers visiting me here at Classmates. Keep in touch, and watch for me to update what's going on in my life...as I look forward to seeing what's going on in yours!
Keep On Rockin'...Rick
