Rick's Story
Life
If you're visiting me here then it's likely you remember me from way back when. You probably recall the toe headed waif that I was through grammar school and high school. You perhaps recall I was an artist-type of kid. You may remember me as somewhat of a yard ape.
I grew up fast, but matured slowly. I married young and endured an unfortunate relationship for five years before getting divorced. Somewhere in the middle of it all I finished school and started a career as an art director in advertising. I graduated at the top of my class and was hired by one of the best agencies in America at that time and moved to Virginia. My career skyrocketed and I won national recognition for a number of campaigns, including recognition by the New York Art Director's Club.
In 1985 I met my current wife Pamela Killen at an agency in Atlanta. We then moved to Baltimore. My career moved me to other places like Cincinnati and Nashville as well. Eventually I started my own agency, which was a big success, but after a year I sold my ...Expand for more
shares to my partners and moved back to Atlanta to raise my son Paul closer to his grandparents.
I immediately took a job with McCann-Erickson World Group where I have been for the past 14 years doing television creative for Coca-Cola, as vice president, associate creative director. Although a lot of my production work is done in Hollywood, I have been fortunate enough to supervise film productions in Argentina, Brazil, Australia, Mexico, Grand Caymans, Bahamas, Barbados and Canada.
I have also spent a lot of time in Great Britain and Ireland, along with trips to Italy, Belgium and Korea, as well as all over the USA. Some of my photography from Great Britain and Rome, have been featured in both the Atlanta Journal and History Magazine.
For relaxation I play classical piano. I also play Celtic music on both flute and bagpipes, and sing in an Anglican choir. I still draw and paint, but not as much as I used to.
I still have my sense of humor, and I still believe goodness prevails, but I will always despise cliquish snobbery.
