Rick's Story
I just wanted to say that since I've been checking out classmates, I often of my dear friend Gary Geer. He taught english and was also a wonderful guitarist who performed many time in Olde Town. He was my really first inspiration on playing the guitar. He taught me so well that I surpassed his teachings and then student became teacher. We did a few shows together for some Argo High events. It was a good memory. Unfortunately he got wrapped up in some stuff in Willow Springs and would up taking his own life. After all this time, I still have difficulties with it.
2 of the other staff that I remember best was 1: Mr. Stempian.. Not sure I spelled that right. He and I had many long talks together and I seriously looked up to him and would have loved to learn more from him. Lastly.. Barry Jeninga. in the music department. I worked at the school as a para-professional in the drama and music...Expand for more
dept. He had a brand new Moog synth in the music room and he was kind enough to let me take it home and learn it. Learn it I did.. I can never thank him enough for trusting me with his new "expensive" toy.. Thanks Barry.. As a matter of fact, I looked him up last year. Found him living in Wisconsin. We talked for quite some time and really appreciated having me reach out to him just to let him know how much he meant to me. Anyone remember him selling "Shackley Products"? Although, I flunked out of 4th & 7th grade and dropped out my freshman year, I decided to go back to school several years later and graduated 3rd in my class in college. I hope Gary could have seen me. I still play music and am partners in a computer & telecommunications company here in Florida.. I'm still in touch with a handful of my old friends. A friend is someone who knows your and still likes you.. Just sayin'
