Rita's Story
I've gone from nerd in high to school to a 'character' in adulthood. I attended UW, but I quit to get married and had two boys before the 'Waffle' theory of marriage kicked in and I had to throw the first one out. I did keep the name and my wonderful children.
I spent the next few years working for weekly newspapers in the graphics departments. After I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (yes, I still love those big words) which is spinal arthritis I switched to computer programming where I could sit all day and night. I finished my working days at Safeco Insurance as an analyst and I'm doing the things that I love. I joined a Senior Center and I'm the 'kid' on some pretty hardy...Expand for more

I did remarry 30 years ago and added two stepdaughters to my life. They are about the same age as my sons, so the teen years were challenging for all of us. I love the kids at this age - fortyish. Of course, the grandkids are wonderful and I spoil all six of them with impunity.
My husband, Ken Brown is still working because he loves it and I do too. He has started cutting back his hours and I'm encouraging him to find hobbies so he will keep busy.
I love to go to Europe and I've been there several times. I finally got my husband there this year and he actually enjoyed it. I hope he'll want to go again. My dream vacation is an Antarctic cruise, but I think I'll be going alone!
