Rita's Story
Life
After high school I attended EMU and got an Associates degree. I worked for Standard Federal Bank for 18 years in various positions. I got married in 1987 and had my first daughter, Paula, in 1991. Maura was born in 1994. I left the bank after Paula was born and became a stay at home mom. I became very active in volunteer work at my church and my daughters' school. I got divorced in 2001 and returned to college. I attended Oakland University and received a bachelor's degree in Aug. of 2004 in General Studies with a minor in English. I returned to the workforce in Nov. 2004 for a firm in Southfield.
I remarried in October 2005 and have relocated to Ann Arbor with my new husband. I worked for a mortgage and investment firm right across from U of M Stadium for a year and half. I worked in the Human Resources department at Saline Area Schools for about 9 months and worked for Ann Arbor Public Schools as a Teacher Clerk for two years. I worked for Edward Jones as the assistant for a financial advisor for six years and then we moved to Raymond James where I have been for an additional 4 years. I love this field and will probably retire in about two years.

a family much later than most. My oldest daughter, Paula, graduated from Albion College, and completed her doctorate in clinical child psychology at the University of Hartford in CT. She became a Doctor January 11, 2021. I am so proud of her. My younger daughter, Maura, graduated from WMU, majoring in creative writing. She worked at PetSmart Hotel as a senior associate for about two years and currently works as an admin at a dermatologist's office. She plans to move out of state soon since she figures she should do it now while she's still young.
My husband Michael retired three years ago and loves being a Park Steward for Ann Arbor, plays pool on a very good team (they made it to Las Vegas two years ago!), and always has projects going on in our yard.
I love reading, gardening, sewing, bicycling, and just talking to my friends.
School
Of course, everyone knows that my "biggest crush" was Gary Beitler. Even though Gary and I did not end up getting married, we remained friends for quite awhile. However, we lost touch somewhere along the line. I know that he got married and had 3 children. Do any of you know what he is up to now? If so, please tell him a big hello from me and that I would love to hear from him.
