Rob's Story
After high school, I attended college at the University of Iowa (big surprise). There I met my future wife, Jamie, and we're coming up on our 10 year anniversary this June. I followed her to Burlington, IA where I began a career as a high school math instructor. I have since earned my master's degree and I am still teaching math, although now I'm at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington, Iowa. We have two children, Corinne (born May '01) and Brock (born Jan. '04). When I'm not teaching math or playing with the kids, I'm usually outside playing golf/basketball/softball/tennis, or inside watching movies/playing video games/surfing political websites. My Mom, Stepfather, and some relatives on that side of my family still live in Rockford, so we do go back from time to time. My Rockford relatives are still "west-siders" so I do occasionally drive past ol' Auburn High when I visit. At SCC, our teams are called the Blackhawks, and ou...Expand for more
r colors are Red & Black much like the Mighty Knights, so as a sports fan, it's easy to get right into it. (It doesn't hurt that our basketball team has won three national championships in 2000, 2003, and 2004, while our women's softball has won one in 2005.) A hobby of mine that I've discovered in just the last few years is photography. I was good enough at it that I've turned it into a business where I do weddings, receptions, and other events/reunions, as well as some of the team photos here at SCC. I was fortunate to have my sister Kate (also an Auburn alum.) ask me to photograph her wedding to Josh Hatwich (yep, a Knight as well) at our Dad's acreage in Cedar Rapids. They now live in San Francisco where Josh works for Adobe (in case some folks in their classes were curious).
BTW, if you want to see photos of my kids/family, or some of the other stuff I've taken pictures of, you can check it out at picasaweb.google.com/rdenglerdep
Peace.
